Job Summary

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide high-level legal and contractual support to the Tendering, Procurement, and Project execution activities of the DOF Company. This role will involve reviewing, qualifying, and negotiating Terms and Conditions of Contract, as well as providing guidance and support in the resolution of contractual and commercial disputes with Clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contractual Support
    • Review and qualify Terms and Conditions of Contract
    • Negotiate Contract provisions with Clients and Subcontractors
    • Ensure alignment between Contract provisions and existing global policies
  • Dispute Resolution
    • Provide guidance and support in the resolution of contractual and commercial disputes with Clients
    • Assess the validity of Subcontractor VOR claims
  • Procurement Support
    • Provide advice and support in relation to the establishment of supplier agreements and placement of PO's
    • Assess the validity of Subcontractor VOR claims
  • Legal Management
    • Ensure that contractual and legal documents are prepared in accordance with company policies and procedures
    • Manage Variation Orders
  • Business Partnerships
    • Liaise with Company's Insurers to ensure alignment between Contract provisions and existing global policies
    • Liaise with Finance and Legal departments regarding security bonds and guarantees

Requirements

Education:

A relevant law degree

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Significant relevant experience in a senior legal role in a major company preferably within the international energy industry and/or from recognized law firms
  • Strong legal knowledge and understanding of contract law
  • Strong negotiations skills combined with commercial understanding
  • Analytical and structured, with the ability to work independently and within short deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working within an international team of professionals
