Senior Legal Counsel EMEA Job Description

This is a permanent position with a major, international energy company based in Aberdeen. The role holder will be an integral member of the Leadership Team, providing legal advice to support the group's business operations and ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing legal strategies to support the group's business operations
  • Managing complex transactions and overseeing legal matters across all territories, primarily the UK
  • Providing general legal advice and assistance to all areas of the Group, International & UK Entities
  • Presenting legal advice to company Board, Regional Team EMEA, Portfolio Directors and Heads Of Department
  • Identifying and advising company on complex legal issues associated with the implementation of the corporate strategy and the mitigation of identified risks
  • Ensuring the company is not unnecessarily exposed to legal claims by providing appropriate legal advice, by managing complex legal transactions
  • Curating and managing global legal partnerships with external counsel, maximising value across each engagement
  • Reviewing, supporting in the negotiation of and where applicable, draft a range of commercial agreements in conjunction with Contracts Manager / wider commercial team
  • Managing commercial compliance in terms of existing agreements and develop a compliance process for emerging agreements
  • Facilitating and verifying that relevant analysis has been undertaken within the group to evaluate risks relevant to commercial matters
  • Function as Data Protection Officer (DPO)
Requirements
  • Law degree
  • Experienced Legal Advisor with previous significant experience gained within an industry role and/or a respected private practice firm
  • Competent in Microsoft Office packages
  • Reliability – Takes responsibility for personal performance
