Lead Medical Receptionist

Position Overview
The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and capable individual to take charge of our dedicated Reception team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that we deliver a warm, professional, and friendly service to all patients, staff, and visitors who engage with our practice.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the reception area, managing staff and their associated duties, including handling repeat prescriptions and maintaining the clinical system.
A proactive and positive mindset is essential, along with prior experience in a fast-paced reception environment. The position requires front-line support for patient inquiries and complaints, necessitating strong customer service skills and the ability to respond swiftly to various situations to ensure the practice runs smoothly.
It is crucial for the candidate to demonstrate empathy towards patients and maintain composure under pressure, effectively managing patient queries while addressing phone calls and GP requests. The ability to multitask and handle a high volume of patient interactions is vital, and familiarity with medical terminology would be beneficial.
Previous experience in a GP practice or similar healthcare setting is preferred. The ideal candidate will be organized, self-driven, and adaptable to the evolving demands of our services.
Candidates should be enthusiastic and proficient in computer use, ideally with experience in EMIS WEB or a comparable clinical system. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, presenting both challenges and rewards.
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
