London, Greater London, United Kingdom Walsall Council Full time

Families at the Core of Our Mission

"The way Walsall collaborates with families resonates with my values" (Annual health assessment)

Walsall is rolling out the Families First Initiative, inspired by the National Children's Social Care Review and Stable Homes Built on Love. We are establishing a unified, multi-agency local Family Support Service, enhancing the strengths of the Family Safeguarding model.

Position Overview

Family Coordinators will play a crucial role in revolutionizing our service by facilitating Family Group Conferences and Family Network Meetings for all families. Our goal is to embed family rights and decision-making at the forefront of our operations.

This position offers flexibility, focusing on addressing the needs of families and fostering their unity, which may occasionally require working beyond standard hours.

Candidate Profile:

We seek individuals with experience in working with children, young people, and their families.

A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant professional field is essential.

You will receive training in conducting Family Group Conferences and Family Network Meetings, mediation techniques, and strategies for reducing parental conflict. Additionally, you will have opportunities to enhance your skills and expertise in your preferred area of specialization.

What We Offer:

Wellbeing is central to our approach. We provide specialized clinical supervision, a 9-day fortnight to promote work/life balance, flexible working arrangements, and dedicated employee assistance and therapeutic support when necessary. We are committed to making social work a profession that individuals aspire to remain in.

Family service practitioners will also benefit from a 5% allowance to ensure adaptability in working with families at their convenience.

Salary Range: £31,364 - £35,745 (Retention Payments after 2 years, with increases at 4 and 6 years)

For insights into the realities of working in Walsall, please reach out to our Principal Social Worker, who will connect you with one of our practitioners.
