We are thrilled to announce an opportunity within our North Central London Division for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to become part of a well-established Unplanned Care Therapy Team.

The selected candidate will benefit from consistent supervision and have access to a variety of developmental opportunities aimed at fostering their ongoing professional growth. Additionally, monthly peer support groups and regular supervision/appraisals will be provided. This role is ideal for someone eager to make a significant impact in the community while gaining a broad perspective across various clinical areas and innovative working practices.

Key Responsibilities

We are in search of a Physiotherapist (PT) with experience in Community Therapy, who possesses enthusiasm and a creative approach to their work. This position is well-suited for individuals looking to enhance their Community practice within a supportive and collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential for effective multidisciplinary collaboration, problem-solving, and working alongside Community partners and Acute discharge teams.

Candidates should hold a BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy and maintain current HCPC registration. They must be highly organized and capable of conducting specialized PT assessments in patients' residences, utilizing evidence-based tools and methodologies to identify physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments and their effects on daily living activities (ADL).

Job Responsibilities

You will be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients under your care.

You will accept clinical responsibility for a designated patient caseload, organizing your workload efficiently and effectively according to clinical priorities and time management. Your role will ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients you manage while providing support to junior staff and assistants.

You will plan and prioritize your patient workload to conduct comprehensive assessments, including those with complex presentations, employing investigative, analytical, and clinical reasoning skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of an up-to-date CPD portfolio.
  • Participation in specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities in Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, and Older People Rehabilitation.
  • Membership in a Professional Body.

Desirable

  • Membership in a Special Interest Group relevant to this position.

Experience

Essential

  • Post-registration experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
  • Experience working at a Junior level across various specialized clinical areas, including outpatients, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopedics, and respiratory care.

Desirable

  • Experience collaborating with voluntary organizations.
  • Involvement in service development projects.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Proficiency in assessing and treating adults with complex multi-pathologies.
  • Understanding of complex medical conditions, including multipathologies and falls.
  • Knowledge of the role of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Ability to apply core Physiotherapy skills across various clinical conditions within a client-centered, goal-oriented framework.
  • Familiarity with outcome measures and evidence-based practice.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, prioritization skills, and clinical reasoning.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience in teaching junior staff/students and peers in an in-service training setting.
  • Understanding of the role of Social Services and voluntary agencies.
  • Participation in an Appraisal Scheme.

Desirable

  • Experience supervising assistants and junior staff.
  • Experience supervising students.
  • Knowledge and experience in research and audit.
  • Understanding of the National Service Framework for Older People.
  • Familiarity with NICE and CSP/COT Fallers Guidelines.
