Key Responsibilities

We seek a dedicated Physiotherapist (PT) with experience in Community Therapy, who possesses enthusiasm and a forward-thinking approach to practice. This role is ideal for individuals eager to expand their Community expertise within a supportive and collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective multidisciplinary collaboration, problem-solving, and working alongside Community partners and Acute discharge teams.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy and maintain current HCPC registration. You should demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and the ability to conduct specialized PT assessments in patients' residences, utilizing evidence-based methodologies to evaluate physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges and their effects on daily living activities.

Job Responsibilities

You will be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your practice, including the management of your patient caseload.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accepting clinical responsibility for a designated patient group and organizing care efficiently based on clinical priorities.
  • Ensuring high standards of clinical care for your patients while providing guidance to junior staff and assistants.
  • Planning and prioritizing your patient workload to conduct comprehensive assessments, particularly for complex cases, employing investigative and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of an up-to-date CPD portfolio.
  • Participation in specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities in Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, and Older People Rehabilitation.
  • Membership in a Professional Body.

Desirable:

  • Membership in a Special Interest Group relevant to this position.

Experience

Essential:

  • Post-registration experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
  • Experience in a junior capacity across various specialized clinical areas, including outpatients, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopedics, and respiratory care.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with voluntary organizations.
  • Involvement in service development initiatives.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential:

  • Proficiency in assessing and treating adults with complex multi-pathologies.
  • Understanding of complex medical conditions, including multi-pathologies and falls.
  • Knowledge of the role of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Ability to apply core Physiotherapy skills across various clinical conditions in a client-centered, goal-oriented manner.
  • Familiarity with outcome measures and evidence-based practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and clinical reasoning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience in teaching junior staff/students in an in-service training context.
  • Understanding of the roles of Social Services and voluntary agencies.
  • Participation in appraisal schemes.

Desirable:

  • Experience supervising assistants and junior staff.
  • Experience supervising students.

  • Understanding of the National Service Framework for Older People.
