Credit Controller Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our team on an 8-month fixed-term contract. As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for processing sales invoices, reconciling customer accounts, and ensuring accounts are maintained within agreed terms and credit limits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process sales invoices and submit them as required using customer portals, management systems, and email.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and send statements to customers.
  • Ensure accounts are maintained within agreed terms and credit limits.
  • Telephone clients to chase overdue invoices and request payment.
  • Report old outstanding debt to the Credit Team Leader and communicate any potential debtor issues.
  • Indicate to the Group Credit Manager if legal action is required to resolve issues.
  • Handle customer queries, assist with discrepancies, and send copy invoices, credit notes, and other files.
  • Liaise with different departments to resolve issues.
  • Process and manage high volumes of data using Excel skills to gather information.
  • Keep records of customer accounts, including payment terms, contact details, and invoicing instructions.
  • Maintain and update records of debtors, including actual and expected income, and print reports for management.
  • Maintain a database of customer information on Excel spreadsheets and NetSuite systems.
  • Work closely with the accounts team, keeping records up to date, processing payments, and helping with month-end tasks.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties and cover for other team members.

Requirements:

  • Recent experience in a similar role, gained from working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, professional telephone manner, and customer service skills.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills, assertive in a professional manner, and an organized and methodical approach.
  • Significant numerical knowledge and advanced skills in computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team, with an innovative mindset to identify areas for improvement and development.
  • Reliability, approachability, high accuracy, and attention to detail, with a quick learning ability to adapt to new systems and procedures.
