Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a registered healthcare professional with a background in infection prevention and control, eager to apply their expertise across various healthcare environments. As part of a dynamic and forward-thinking Infection Prevention Team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient and staff safety by:

  • Ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention are maintained.
  • Conducting surveillance, monitoring, and investigation of infection-related incidents.
  • Supporting and executing audits of infection prevention practices.
  • Providing guidance, education, and support to clinical staff.
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers across different settings to promote best practices.

The successful candidate may be required to pursue further qualifications in infection prevention and will benefit from a wealth of teaching experience, particularly in infection control and audit methodologies. This role necessitates travel between various sites, and the ability to commute is essential.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implementing the Trust's Infection Prevention program.
  • Promoting adherence to policies aimed at minimizing infection risks.
  • Offering support and guidance to staff to mitigate healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contributing to the Trust-wide education program on infection prevention.
  • Assisting in the audit and surveillance of infection control practices.
  • Collaborating with clinical teams to develop compliance action plans.
  • Addressing patient and caregiver concerns related to infection prevention.
  • Advising on cleaning and decontamination protocols.
  • Participating in investigations and developing action plans as necessary.
  • Communicating essential actions for safe infection control practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of post-registration experience in nursing.
  • Experience in clinical audit and infection prevention practices.

Desirable:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Teaching qualifications and experience in infection prevention.
  • Familiarity with managing patients with transmissible infections.
