Job Title: Band 6 Quality Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Quality Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of our Trust's Infection Prevention programme, promoting adherence to our policies and procedures, and providing guidance and support to staff to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.

You will work closely with our Senior Nurse Infection Prevention and Specialist Nurses to develop action plans to promote and evidence compliance with our annual Infection Prevention programme. You will also assist clinical staff in answering patient and carer concerns and complaints related to infection prevention.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of our Trust-wide IP education programme and local education in response to need
  • Supporting IP audit and surveillance programme
  • Providing infection prevention advice to support compliance with the IP annual programme and other centrally and locally agreed interventions to reduce the risk of infection
  • Communicating actions required for safe infection prevention and control practice
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Post-registration experience at a Band 6 level
  • Experience of clinical audit and working with and leading on standard setting or working as an Infection Prevention and Control link staff
  • Familiarity with the management of patients with a transmissible infection
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyse complex information and use own judgement to problem solve
  • Experience of Microsoft work, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience of data analysis/report writing
