Position Title: Lead Electronics Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a Lead Electronics Specialist to join our team, focusing on the maintenance and repair of specialized electronic and electrical systems, particularly in traffic management and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and conduct maintenance of industrial Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Engineering Control systems, collaborating with Agency and Contract Engineering Staff.
  • Manage the upkeep of electronic and LAN-based control systems that support the Medium Voltage Power Distribution System Switchgear and Substation Equipment.
  • Supervise the maintenance of the COMM fiber plant, including all components of the fiber communications system and intelligent traffic management systems.
  • Ensure the operational integrity of UHF/VHF radio systems, Emergency Re-broadcast systems, over-height detection systems, CCTV cameras, display equipment, internal phone systems, PBX equipment, tunnel internal networks, and programmable logic controllers.

As an emergency response agency, you may be required to work outside of standard hours during critical operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the electronics domain, including troubleshooting, circuit analysis, and repair of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in traffic signal maintenance and operations, encompassing various traffic control devices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and standards pertaining to electronics and traffic control equipment maintenance.
  • Strong ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electronic theory, with skills in testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Capability to perform troubleshooting at system, unit, board, and component levels.
  • Physical capability to perform labor-intensive tasks.
  • Experience in supervising others, planning, coordinating, and prioritizing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Extensive experience in maintaining and repairing both analog and digital communication systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various networks, including SCADA systems and PLCs.
  • Significant experience in electronic repairs at the board and component levels, along with inventory management skills.
  • Proficient in entering and managing work orders in the IMMS system.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Additional Considerations:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics; equivalent experience or training may be considered.
  • Preferred certification in fire alarm systems.
  • F.C.C. Maintenance Technician and other relevant professional certifications are advantageous.
