Business Performance Manager

As a key member of the COO Directorate, you will play a critical role in driving business performance and delivering strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the production, delivery, and oversight of the COO's annual business plan, aligning activities with the company's overall strategic objectives.
  • Provide robust governance and assurance for all COO-related projects, ensuring that key deliverables are met on time and within scope.
  • Lead the implementation of the business progress review process, ensuring all initiatives within the COO Directorate are on track.
  • Identify opportunities for operational excellence and process improvements through data-driven insights.
  • Deputise for the COO in key meetings and stakeholder engagements, representing Northern at industry forums, local authority performance boards, and with partners like Network Rail and the Department for Transport (DfT).
  • Foster a culture of high performance by identifying leadership gaps and implementing training and development programs to address these areas.
Requirements:
  • Substantial experience in a senior business support or performance management role, ideally within the rail or transport sector.
  • A strong understanding of business planning, governance, and project management, with the ability to oversee complex initiatives from inception to delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance business reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a keen ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and ensure timely delivery.
  • A deep understanding of the rail sector or a similarly complex, regulated industry is desirable, including knowledge of government frameworks and industry bodies such as DfT and Network Rail.
