Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager - Exeter

A leading construction company is seeking a highly skilled SHEQ Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of high-end projects in Retail, Leisure, and Hospitality, with values reaching up to £10m.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe and healthy working conditions, preventing the risk of injury and ill health to workers and other stakeholders. This will involve identifying and eliminating hazards, allocating adequate resources to protect people, stakeholders, and the environment.

The role will involve:

  1. Developing and implementing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  2. Providing guidance, support, and training to the MD and team members.
  3. Implementing and embedding policies, procedures, and training programs in accordance with HSWA 1974.
  4. Producing monthly reports detailing current performance, areas for improvement, and areas of improvement.
  5. Liaising with external agencies and regulatory bodies.
  6. Managing CoSHH control measures.
  7. Supporting day-to-day activities of project teams and ensuring high standards are achieved.
  8. Implementing, managing, and maintaining the company's ISO management systems.
  9. Developing safe working processes, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
  1. Working knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
  2. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent HSE qualification).
  3. Working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and supporting regulations.
  4. Passion for Health and Safety.
  5. SMSTS desirable.
  6. Relevant driving licence.
