Job Summary

Pertemps TM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our adult education department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Classroom Duties:
    • Design and deliver engaging and effective teaching programs to maximize learner success.
    • Set, monitor, assess, review, and record learning outcomes and progress.
    • Provide pre-course, on-course information, advice, and assessment to support learners.
    • Ensure correct enrollment and track attendance, progress, and achievements.
    • Ensure compliance with service policies for visitors.
  • Other Duties (Non-contact Time):
    • Prepare and assess learners for program completion.
    • Provide necessary information for exams or other assessments.
    • Design and develop courses aligning with service objectives.
    • Provide written course information for dissemination.
    • Stay updated on professional developments and participate in CPD programs.
    • Attend and contribute to team and service meetings.
    • Contribute to service-wide initiatives and events.
    • Participate in the annual professional cover duty rota.
    • Contribute to quality improvement strategies and annual self-assessment.
    • Promote and work within Council's policies on Equal Opportunities.
    • Adhere to service and Council policies, including health and safety, data protection, and financial regulations.
    • Align actions with the Council's climate and ecological emergency declaration.
  • Qualifications and Training:
    • Essential:
      • Level 3 Teaching Qualification (commitment to achieve Level 4).
      • Evidence of continuous professional development.
    • Desirable:
      • Degree or higher-level qualification relevant to the program area.
      • Assessor/Verification Qualification.
      • First Aid Qualification.
  • Experience:
    • Essential:
      • Successful adult teaching experience.
      • Experience working with adults of different abilities and motivations.
    • Desirable:
      • Experience in curriculum development.
      • Experience with OFSTED Inspection framework.
      • Experience managing and supporting staff.
  • Knowledge and Awareness:
    • Essential:
      • Understanding of contexts and factors influencing adult learning and success.
    • Desirable:
      • Awareness of local adults' learning and skills needs.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Essential:
      • Proficiency in ICT and its application in teaching.
      • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
