Salisbury, Wiltshire, United Kingdom Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and proactive individual to become a vital member of our healthcare team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with vascular surgeons, clinical nurse specialists, vascular scientists, and our administrative personnel.

Our multidisciplinary team serves both inpatients and outpatients, managing a high volume of patients. The selected candidate will facilitate the efficient operation of both consultant-led and nurse-led clinics, as well as assist with vascular scanning procedures. A capacity for multitasking is essential, and we promote independence in managing clinic operations, including patient transfers and inventory management. Our supportive environment fosters educational growth within this specialty.

Key Responsibilities

Operate independently to coordinate clinic schedules, ensuring smooth transitions for patients from beds or wheelchairs to examination tables. Training in manual handling will be provided.

Prepare clinic settings, including dressing stations and scanning rooms, ensuring supplies are stocked and maintained, and coordinating necessary repairs. Serve as a liaison as designated by management, taking ownership of relevant responsibilities.

Assist medical professionals and team members during patient assessments and procedures, which may involve chaperoning. Acquire and perform new techniques and tests, such as Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) assessments, operating intermittent compression pumps for lymphoedema patients, and applying basic dressings.

Support patients in dressing and undressing for examinations, providing observation and assistance during and after treatments. Identify clinical emergencies and promptly request appropriate help.

Conduct vital sign assessments, including pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, weight, height, and blood glucose levels. Recognize and report any irregularities to qualified personnel using the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system.

Challenges of the Role

Effectively prioritize tasks and work independently to uphold high standards of patient care in a dynamic and demanding environment.
