Key Responsibilities:
Care and Education Management
Ensure all team members adhere to the established care model, utilizing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) to minimize restrictive interventions and promote consistent care and therapeutic relationships. Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in, develop, and endorse their behavioral support plans. Guarantee that each student receives 1:1 talk time, with documentation maintained in their records. Share insights and information to enhance care and educational delivery through discussions in team meetings and relevant forums. Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive care (PBS) and educational (Education Health Care Plan) documentation, ensuring interventions are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely) and reviewed monthly. Ensure compliance with prescribed behavioral and medical interventions, supporting their implementation. Promote awareness of healthy lifestyle choices in student health and well-being files, addressing any physical health concerns promptly. Collaborate with all stakeholders to effectively plan and staff internal and external activities, documenting any student decisions to abstain from participation. Provide leadership to the support team, working collaboratively with service managers and multidisciplinary teams to enhance student well-being and outcomes. Participate in the induction process for new staff, ensuring they feel welcomed and equipped with the necessary information to succeed. Facilitate effective communication within clinical and educational teams, ensuring key information is shared positively and descriptively. Foster positive relationships with relatives and caregivers, encouraging their involvement in student care and education. Work with all departments to continuously improve student attendance in educational settings. Liaise appropriately with external agencies while maintaining service user confidentiality. Ensure student records are accurate, factual, and reflect progress. Guarantee that all required reports are accurate, up-to-date, and meet the necessary standards, providing support and training to staff as needed. Offer debrief forms to students following any incidents requiring safe holds, ensuring all outcomes are documented. Support staff debriefs by gathering relevant information post-incident and adhering to the debrief process. Actively participate in all relevant meetings and reviews. Maintain high standards of care during procedures, including the safe handling and administration of medications in accordance with legislation and policies. Ensure students' rights are upheld under the Mental Health Act and related legislation, with monthly documentation. Stay current with mandatory training and ensure staff compliance through regular discussions. Report any complaints or health and safety concerns following established procedures.Managerial Duties:
Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all shifts, managing the rota in accordance with student funding requirements. Oversee staff attendance and punctuality, promoting positive practices. Engage actively in the staff appraisal process. Support and manage staff through the appraisal process effectively. Understand and meet organizational and regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with staff break policies, mobile phone usage, and non-smoking regulations. Confirm that all staff, including agency personnel, adhere to documentation and uniform policies before accessing facilities. Direct others to share resources and reduce costs across services. Act as deputy in the absence of a Service Manager as needed.Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Learning Disability care sectors. Registration with Social Care Wales (SCW) is required. QCF level 5 or willingness to work towards it within 6 months of appointment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a solid command of the English language. High educational standards in numeracy and literacy. Experience in managing multiple sites or departments. Understanding of HR practices, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills to develop and manage staff effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Valid Driving License. Willingness to participate in the On-Call Rota.All staff working in services registered with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) must register with Social Care Wales. You must also be prepared to undertake the necessary qualifications to meet registration requirements.
