Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Farrans Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure they are within budget.
  • Provide accurate financial reporting and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and clients.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring timely payments and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Place supply chain orders in accordance with procurement schedules.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring they meet contract conditions.
  • Ensure payments to subcontractors and suppliers are made in accordance with terms and work in progress cash targets.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget and provide analysis of cost overruns and projections.
  • Explore opportunities to maximize value and minimize cost.
  • Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims, and additional payments.
  • Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable documentation for clients.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a construction QS role, working on major projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern building techniques, plant, and equipment, and logistical needs/issues.
  • Strong understanding of construction contract conditions.
  • Appreciation of the impact of cost on project completion and development of construction solutions.
  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
