Residential Support Provider Opportunity

Support Young Individuals in Their Journey to Independence

Are you interested in making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? As a Residential Support Provider, you can offer a safe and nurturing environment while receiving a financial allowance of £268 per week.

Stockport Council is seeking individuals aged 25 and over, residing in Stockport and nearby areas, who have a spare room and a desire to assist vulnerable young individuals aged 16 to 17 at risk of homelessness, as well as care leavers aged 18 to 21 and unaccompanied asylum-seeking youth. Candidates should possess resilience, empathy, and a welcoming attitude to provide a warm and secure home.

The primary goal of this initiative is to serve as a transitional support system, guiding young people towards independence. As a Residential Support Provider, you will help them develop essential life skills such as:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Personal hygiene
  • Staying safe and healthy

This support will empower young individuals to successfully navigate their journey towards independent living.

Stockport Council will ensure that you receive ongoing assistance as a Residential Support Provider, and each young person will have access to a dedicated social worker or Leaving Care worker throughout their stay.

It is important to note that while you will provide guidance and support, you are not expected to take on a guardianship role.

Stockport Council values diversity and encourages applications from all individuals aged 25 and over, regardless of background, culture, faith, gender, or sexuality.

Become a vital part of a transformative experience for young people.

The successful candidate will undergo necessary pre-employment checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service review.
