The position available is for a Consultant in Substance Misuse Psychiatry, focusing on providing high-quality care within the NHS framework. This role is designed to enhance the mental health services offered to individuals facing substance misuse challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Leadership: Provide senior clinical guidance to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of effective medical care to clients.
- Governance and Management: Engage in the governance and management processes of the Specialist Services Division, contributing to the overall clinical excellence.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings for care planning and risk management.
- Supervision: Oversee the clinical work of General Practitioners involved in Shared Care arrangements, as well as core trainees and medical students.
- Service Development: Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing team performance and service delivery.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to procedures regarding the reporting of professional conduct or competence concerns.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Listing on the Specialist Register of the GMC or eligibility to register within a specified timeframe.
- Approval under the relevant sections of the Mental Health Act.
- Training in evidence-based interventions for substance misuse, including psychoeducation and psychological therapies.
- Experience with safeguarding frameworks for children.
- Strong leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Participation in medical audits and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
This role may require flexibility to work across various locations as needed to meet the demands of the service.
