Position Overview:

The role of the Commercial Gas Engineer encompasses a variety of responsibilities essential for the effective operation of commercial gas and solid fuel heating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial gas and solid fuel heating systems.
  • Execute installation tasks as required.
  • Conduct both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Engage in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including technical and situational reports.
  • Report any accidents, near misses, or potential hazards promptly.
  • Carry out additional maintenance tasks within the scope of work.
  • Participate in out-of-hours work, including overtime and call-outs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess a robust background in commercial gas and heating, holding relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent. Essential certifications include CODNCO1, COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1, TCP1A, CCN1, CENWAT, along with applicable domestic qualifications. Additional qualifications in COMCAT, CCCN1, CCLNG1, OFTEC, LPG, ASHP, UNVENTED, and Solar/Renewable technologies are advantageous but not mandatory.

Comprehensive knowledge of current gas legislation and regulations is crucial, along with experience in local authority or social housing environments. Familiarity with a variety of commercial and domestic appliances and installations is expected. The candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills and extensive experience in diagnosing and rectifying commercial faults.

Knowledge of major manufacturers such as Valliant Powermatic, Riello, Broag, Combat, Ambi-Rad, Ideal, Potterton, Nu Way, and Worcester is beneficial. A solid understanding of heating systems, including controls and BMS, is desirable, as are good plumbing skills. A full driving license is required, along with an understanding of health and safety protocols and best practices.
