Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Gas Engineer:

As a Commercial Gas Engineer, your primary duties will encompass:

  • Performing service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial gas and solid fuel heating systems.
  • Executing installation tasks as required.
  • Conducting both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks.
  • Completing necessary documentation, including technical and situational reports.
  • Reporting all incidents, near misses, or potential safety hazards.
  • Undertaking additional maintenance tasks within your scope of work.
  • Participating in out-of-hours work, including overtime and call-out duties.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in commercial gas and heating, along with all relevant commercial gas certifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent. Essential qualifications include:

  • CODNCO1, COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1, TCP1A, CCN1, CENWAT.
  • Desirable qualifications include COMCAT, CCCN1, CCLNG1, OFTEC, LPG, ASHP, UNVENTED, and Solar/Renewable certifications.

Additionally, candidates should have:

  • Extensive knowledge of current gas legislation and regulations.
  • Experience working with local authorities or in social housing, along with familiarity with various commercial and domestic appliances and installations.
  • Strong technical skills and significant experience in diagnosing and rectifying commercial faults.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of major manufacturers such as Valliant Powermatic, Riello, Broag, Combat, Ambi-Rad, Ideal, Potterton, Nu Way, and Worcester.
  • Good understanding of heating systems, with knowledge of controls and Building Management Systems (BMS) being advantageous.
  • Proficient plumbing skills.
  • A valid driving license.
  • A solid understanding of Health and Safety protocols and adherence to best practices.
