Key Responsibilities for the Commercial Gas Engineer:

As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial gas and solid fuel heating systems.
  • Executing installation tasks as required.
  • Conducting both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks.
  • Completing necessary documentation, including technical and situational reports.
  • Reporting all incidents, near misses, or potential safety hazards.
  • Undertaking additional maintenance work within your scope of expertise.
  • Participating in out-of-hours work, including overtime and call-outs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess a robust background in commercial gas and heating, along with all relevant commercial gas qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent. Essential certifications include CODNCO1, COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1, TCP1A, CCN1, CENWAT, and applicable domestic qualifications. Additional qualifications such as COMCAT, CCCN1, CCLNG1, OFTEC, LPG, ASHP, UNVENTED, and Solar/Renewable are advantageous but not mandatory.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • In-depth knowledge of current gas legislation and regulations.
  • Experience working with local authorities or in social housing, along with familiarity with various commercial and domestic appliances and installations.
  • Strong technical skills and extensive experience in diagnosing and rectifying commercial issues.
  • Comprehensive understanding of major manufacturers such as Valliant Powermatic, Riello, Broag, Combat, Ambi-Rad, Ideal, Potterton, Nu Way, and Worcester.
  • Good plumbing skills and a full driving license.
  • A solid understanding of Health and Safety protocols and best practices.
