Join Our Team as a Health and Safety Manager

Mash Direct is a leading manufacturer of vegetable accompaniments and side dishes, committed to making vegetables more convenient and sustainable. We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our management team at our site in Comber, Northern Ireland.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Health and Safety professional to provide strategic leadership across our factory, covering all aspects of Health and Safety management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating and embedding a culture of H&S excellence, enabling our people to deliver targets while continuously improving business performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain H&S strategies to improve standards in line with industry best practices.
  • Manage and assist in the development of H&S policies, systems of work, and procedures.
  • Undertake Health & Safety risk management assessments in line with recognised standards such as ISO 45001.
  • Lead the risk assessment and safe systems of work and control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) projects.
  • Proactively manage employee liability claims.
  • Act as site technical expert for Health, Safety, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Provide data to satisfy relevant legal and business requirements.
  • Ensure a safe workplace environment and that H&S policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and regularly reviewed.
  • Provide up-to-date information, training, and guidance on all H&S matters to all levels within the business.
  • Establish a full system of H&S inspections and audits.
  • Liaise with external H&S consultants for training programmes and services.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years experience working in Health and Safety.
  • Degree or equivalent (NEBOSH Diploma).
  • Computer literacy with regards to document preparation, data analysis, and utilisation of specialist support software.
  • Good knowledge of local H&S Legislation.
  • Food and Drink industry experience would be an advantage.
  • Professional level membership of a recognised Health & Safety institute (IOSH/IIRSM etc.).
