As an AWS Premier Tier services partner boasting over 700 in-house engineers, we are committed to expanding our reach in EMEA by hiring a Head of Migrations to spearhead our global delivery team for clients seeking to transition to AWS.
Position Overview:
This role is not limited to the UK; you will focus on delivering intricate migrations across the UK and North America. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading numerous migrations across various geographies and possess a solid background in transitioning from both on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. While Commit offers expertise in software development, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Data, GenAI, and more, our objective is to recruit a specialist dedicated to refining the delivery of our expanding Migrations pipeline, assisting our clients in constructing secure and scalable solutions on AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design: Collaborate with clients to comprehend their business objectives, technical specifications, existing architecture, and motivations for migrating to AWS. Design and architect a target AWS environment that aligns with the Well-Architected Framework and industry best practices regarding operations and security.
- Migration Planning: Develop comprehensive migration plans, including project and resource plans, scope of work, and effort estimates. Collaborate closely with sales and service teams to customize and implement migration strategies.
- Delivery Coordination: Work alongside delivery teams to create and execute migration delivery guides, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
- Client Engagement: Engage with clients during pre-sales and post-sales phases, including requirements gathering, solution presentations, and technical discussions. Foster strong relationships with clients, understanding their challenges and providing tailored solutions.
- Technical Expertise: Exhibit proficiency in AWS services, architectures, and solutions. Stay updated on the latest AWS technologies, trends, and best practices. Offer technical guidance and recommendations to clients and internal teams on effectively leveraging AWS services.
- Security and Compliance: Design and implement solutions that comply with industry-standard security practices and regulatory requirements. Evaluate and mitigate potential security risks, recommending and implementing appropriate measures to safeguard clients' data and systems.
- Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and best practice documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Over 10 years of experience in complex customer production environments.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud services, focusing on AWS migration and modernization.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Delivery Manager.
- In-depth understanding of AWS services, tools, and best practices for migration and modernization, including but not limited to AWS Migration Hub, AWS Application Discovery Service, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), AWS Server Migration Service (SMS), AWS Control Tower, AWS Landing Zone, AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Strong knowledge of AWS programs (MAP, WAFR, POC) and experience in developing funding calculators.
- Solid understanding of AWS data services, including databases, data lakes/warehouses, and object storage; familiarity with data migration methods.
- Expertise in AWS Control Tower and account strategies.
- Experience with SSH, HTTPS, certificates, encryption protocols, and their implementation.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing AWS solutions, with a strong grasp of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, VPN, Network Segmentation, Security Groups, ELB, and ASG.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional level certification is highly preferred; Security and Data specialties are advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in solution design, architecture, and deployment of scalable and secure cloud-based solutions.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, technical teams, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex technical issues and provide practical solutions.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and collaborating in a team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
