Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of children, adolescents, and families with complex mental health needs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with experience in managing children and young people with intellectual disabilities, conduct disorders, and emerging personality disorders. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be responsible for developing and implementing treatment plans, conducting assessments, and providing consultation and liaison services to other healthcare professionals. They will also be expected to contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies, and to participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of children, adolescents, and families with complex mental health needs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, conduct assessments, and provide consultation and liaison services to other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, community paediatricians, and adult mental health services.
- Eligibility for Section 12 (Mental Health Act 1983) Approval and Approved Clinician status.
- Eligible for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in a psychiatric specialty.
- Higher degree/diploma or equivalent in a relevant field of medical or psychological studies.
- Higher specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in an approved training post for a minimum of three years and/or previous consultant experience.
- Sub-specialty or other specialist clinical training relevant to the post.
- Membership or Fellowship of The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
