Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be a registered technician, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within the pharmacy aseptic services team. Aseptic responsibilities must be performed in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Detailed Job Description and Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve assisting in the delivery of pharmacy aseptic services for patients within the Trust, which includes:
- Overseeing staff, organizing daily operations, preparing cytotoxic products, and managing worksheet and label preparation.
- Monitoring the aseptic environment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities within the aseptic unit, supervising staff placements and ensuring adherence to safe working practices.
- Ensure that aseptic tasks are executed according to national standards.
- Work towards achieving regional/national accreditations, maintaining an up-to-date portfolio of evidence to meet continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
- Serve as a role model and provide mentorship for new and junior staff members.
Person Specification
Experience and Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, or Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3.
- Extensive experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Significant experience working within a pharmacy aseptic unit.
Desirable Criteria:
- Pre and In Process Checking (PIPC) Accreditation or equivalent, or eligibility for a regional course.
- Educational Practice Supervisor experience.
Specific Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC or as a Science Manufacturing Technician through an appropriate industry body.
Skills
Essential Criteria:
- Proven knowledge of aseptic unit procedures and systems.
- Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing procedures and systems.
- Experience in supervising staff.
People Management and Development
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to train and supervise new staff members.
- Capability to implement SOPs and recommend improvements to working and training practices.
Freedom to Act
Essential Criteria:
- Accredited to perform checks using regional or in-house checking schemes.
- High motivation and initiative, seeking assistance when necessary.
