Exciting Opportunity for a Senior Highway Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Highway Engineer to join our team at Carrington West. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of highway projects, from public highway design to on-site projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver highway projects, ensuring high standards and timely delivery
  • Lead junior staff and provide technical guidance on complex projects
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and standards
  • Develop and implement project proposals, and deliver projects within budget
  • Represent the company at client meetings and provide excellent client-facing service
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of junior team members
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in highway and drainage design, particularly in the UK
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of highway design standards and guidelines, including DMRB and local authority guidelines
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio of projects
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with design teams, clients, and contractors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership is welcomed but not essential
Technical Experience:
  • Section 278 / 38 Highway Designs
  • Designing residential estate roads and commercial/industrial access
  • Ground Modelling and earthworks design
  • Pavement design
  • Liaising with planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and National Highways
  • Multidisciplinary design delivery

Knowledge of Site3D, Infodrainage, flood risk assessments, sustainable urban drainage strategies (SuDS), and foul and storm water drainage is beneficial, though not essential.
