Position Overview

We invite applications from experienced band 7 pharmacists eager to advance their careers in oncology services. If you are a band 6 pharmacist with at least 6 months of hospital experience and are pursuing a postgraduate certificate, we welcome your interest in oncology. We offer a structured pathway for progression from band 6 to band 7 through our Clinical Rotational Progression Programme.

While prior oncology experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Comprehensive training will be provided as you rotate through adult and pediatric oncology, as well as technical services.

This role presents an opportunity to cultivate both clinical and managerial competencies essential for delivering a clinical oncology pharmacy service.

Our cancer services are expanding, and we have a successful rotation program that has seen previous pharmacists advance to 8A Advanced Oncology Pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities

During each rotation, you will engage with a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, significantly contributing to medication management for oncology patients. You will also play a vital role in the governance frameworks of the unit, which includes developing procedures and guidelines, as well as authoring chemotherapy prescriptions within the Chemocare prescribing system.

We provide robust support for applicants to pursue the Joint Programme Board Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice, along with an educational supervisor to assist in completing this qualification. The role also includes managing a band 6 pharmacist, allowing you to enhance your managerial skills.

You will collaborate with our highly skilled pharmacists, many of whom are recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise in specialized areas. Our Pharmacy department has established partnerships with various educational institutions, enhancing our commitment to professional development.
