We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual with outstanding customer service abilities to become a part of our administrative team within the Cancer Directorate. This role offers a supportive and positive work environment.
Role: Patient Access Clerk, Band 3
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday, with potential for occasional shifts until 1930, including some bank holidays and weekends on a rotational basis.
As a member of our established administrative team, you will provide essential support to the clinical and nursing teams within Oncology services. The ideal candidate will possess administrative experience, a solid educational background, and proficiency in computer applications. Experience in public-facing roles and a professional telephone demeanor are essential. You should be capable of working both collaboratively and independently, demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills while maintaining effectiveness under pressure.
You will collaborate closely with Consultants, Clinicians, radiographers, nursing staff, and the operational management team to manage outpatient waiting lists and document service activities. In partnership with the Patient Access Manager for Cancer Services, you will ensure adherence to organizational policies and compliance with treatment and waiting time targets.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Patient Access Manager in delivering an efficient patient access service for oncology-related treatments, including managing reception areas and appointment scheduling.
- Overseeing patient bookings from referral through to outpatient attendance and discharge, in collaboration with medical and administrative staff across various sites.
- Analyzing and validating Patient Targeting Lists (PTL) and cancer waiting time reports, promptly addressing any issues with the Patient Access Manager.
- Contributing to a high-quality administrative service for patients and assisting healthcare professionals in managing oncology and radiotherapy services.
- Recommending improvements to policies and procedures to enhance patient access services.
