Job Opportunity

Essex Recovery Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our senior leadership team.

We are committed to creating a community of people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and leading on a ground-breaking project which puts the lived experience of addiction at the centre of an innovative approach to improve the recovery experience in Essex.

The successful candidate will lead on creating policies and procedures which improve our operational efficiency and ensure compliance with various regulations. They will support the Community Engagement Lead, Radical Change Lead and Workforce Development Lead to deliver on our five-year strategic objectives.

This is a great opportunity for a highly-motivated, empathetic and collaborative individual with proven experience of operational management in a senior leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop and implement the charity's strategic plan.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Community Partnership Lead, Workforce Development and Training Lead, and the Radical Change Lead.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the charity, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.
  • Work with our HR advisor to implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage resources effectively, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including members, partners, funders, and community organisations.
  • Represent the charity at external events and meetings, advocating for the needs and perspectives of the recovery community.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a charity or similar organisation.
  • Experience in operational management, including budgeting and financial oversight.
  • Track record of successful team management and development.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities, with the capacity to make difficult decisions in the best interest of the charity.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Competence in advocating for community involvement in service delivery and decision-making.
