Mechanical Works Supervisor Needed

Our client is a leader in the installation of various mechanical systems for the water sector throughout the UK. Their expertise encompasses services such as water and wastewater treatment, including design, fabrication, on-site installation, and testing.

We are currently seeking a Site Supervisor who will serve as the primary contact, ensuring the delivery of quality and service in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the technical specifications and methodologies involved in mechanical construction activities.

This is a full-time role, requiring 40.5 hours of work per week. The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Works Supervisor:

  • Oversee and direct your team and any subcontractors to ensure that all mechanical construction tasks are completed on time and in compliance with the company's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and technical requirements.
  • Report any unsafe actions, near misses, or pertinent health and safety issues, ensuring they are addressed promptly.
  • Conduct toolbox talks related to mechanical construction activities performed by your team or subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineer on all aspects including health and safety, technical concerns, specifications, and progress updates as needed.
  • Implement the company's Quality Assurance Procedures.
  • Engage with clients and/or main contractors as necessary.
  • Maintain close communication with the site team on a daily basis to ensure they are informed and meeting expectations.
  • Assist in managing workloads, prioritizing tasks, and resolving conflicts.
  • Establish and nurture strong, trusting relationships with clients and customers.

Requirements for the Mechanical Works Supervisor:

  • Experience in the water industry and construction site environments.
  • Recognized practical qualifications (HND/Degree/Apprenticeship) and certifications (IOSH, CSCS Card, DOMS/National Water Hygiene, etc.).
  • Experience with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron pipework.
  • A comprehensive understanding of all relevant health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Scotland and occasionally to other regions of the UK.
  • Possession of appropriate and suitable hand tools.
  • Experience in mechanical plant repair, maintenance, refurbishment, site surveys, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with pump and drive motor removal and installation.
