Job Overview

An exceptional opportunity has become available within the Respiratory Unit. We are seeking a Band 6 Lead Respiratory Nurse to become a vital part of our dedicated team.

Are you a seasoned Respiratory nurse with a keen interest in Acute Non-Invasive Ventilation? This position may be the perfect fit for you.

The Respiratory Unit comprises 28 beds, focusing on the care of patients with various respiratory ailments. Our team is expertly trained to provide acute respiratory management, including level 2 interventions at the ward level, such as Non-Invasive Ventilation and High Flow Oxygen therapy. The staff is highly skilled in managing patients with altered airways, including those with tracheostomies and laryngectomies.

Joining our friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team means upholding excellent standards and a strong work ethic. You will receive support to advance your career as a Band 6 Lead Nurse through leadership training and mentorship.

Main Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate dedication, motivation, and skill in delivering outstanding patient care.
  • Exhibit a passion for acute respiratory nursing.
  • Possess experience with Non-Invasive Ventilation techniques.
  • Show potential for leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and independently.
  • Have familiarity with audits and quality improvement projects, recognizing the importance of ongoing improvement.
  • Be acquainted with Health Roster and NHSP, as well as the new HIVE system.
  • Effectively coordinate daily shifts, support and mentor junior staff, and communicate changes in patient needs during daily board rounds.

Comprehensive training and support will be provided to help you enhance your skills at Band 6 and complete the Band 6 competency framework.
