Position Overview

Senior Horticulturist

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 DOE

Holiday: 25 days per year (plus bank holidays)

About Botanically Ryan

Botanically Ryan is a dedicated gardening service located in South East London, emphasizing eco-friendly practices and sustainable materials. Our commitment to environmentally conscious gardening is reflected in our use of hand and electric tools, as well as our fleet of fully electric vehicles, aimed at minimizing carbon footprints and enhancing local air quality. We prioritize physical pest and weed control methods, strictly avoiding toxic chemicals, and strive to utilize organic, sustainable, and locally sourced materials whenever possible.

Founded by Ryan, an RHS trained horticulturist with a decade of experience in premier domestic and commercial gardens, Botanically Ryan offers a variety of services, including garden maintenance, planting design, installation, and green pest control. Our team is composed of passionate individuals who share a love for gardening and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and enhance the Maintenance Team, with potential for future recruitment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Implement eco-friendly garden maintenance practices while ensuring year-round garden appeal for clients.
  • Collaborate with Ryan to develop seasonal planting and design offerings.
  • Generate ideas for additional services to present to clients.
  • Ensure the maintenance team is equipped with the necessary training, tools, and processes to deliver exceptional service.
  • Exemplify and promote the values of Botanically Ryan through professional communication and presentation.
  • Manage the collection and delivery of plants and materials for client projects.
  • Oversee the upkeep of a Botanically Ryan owned electric vehicle, ensuring it is regularly charged and maintained.
  • Maintain responsibility for all tools and equipment stored in the vehicle and the lock-up.
  • Provide line management for an assistant.

Success Criteria

The ideal candidate will excel in all aspects of maintenance at Botanically Ryan, fostering client relationships through outstanding eco-friendly gardening services. They will leverage their horticultural expertise to enhance individual gardens, ensuring they remain vibrant throughout the year while collaborating with Ryan to offer additional services as needed. The candidate will guarantee that the maintenance team possesses the appropriate training, tools, and processes to achieve these objectives.

Career Advancement

Botanically Ryan is poised for growth in both maintenance and design sectors. The anticipated progression for this role includes the opportunity to advance to Head of Maintenance, taking full responsibility for the maintenance teams as the business expands.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture, with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possession of a full and clean driving license.
