Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Site Reliability Engineer who will be responsible for crafting software solutions, collaborating with development teams, and utilizing modern telemetry data to enhance and sustain the performance of essential systems.

The site reliability team plays a crucial role within our technology division.

Your focus will be on application performance, reliability, availability, capacity, and overall system health. You will collaborate with various teams across the platform department to ensure our vital systems remain dependable and observable. Your efforts will aim to minimize operational toil and enhance efficiency at scale for our critical systems.

In this role, you will engage with a diverse array of technologies to develop solutions, provide consultancy to development teams, and leverage contemporary observability and incident management tools to support the business. You will be tasked with making informed decisions to enhance the health and maintain the availability and performance of our most critical systems.

This position is eligible for inclusion in the Company's hybrid working from home policy.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • In-depth understanding of SRE principles, including the establishment and management of effective Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with modern observability tools, techniques, and best practices, such as Splunk, New Relic, Grafana, and PagerDuty.
  • Proficient in programming languages including Python, Golang, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with contemporary software development methodologies and lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of automation and orchestration platforms like Ansible and Jenkins.
  • Previous experience in a large-scale, 24/7 enterprise environment where system uptime and stability are critical to business operations.
  • Strong interest in industry trends, particularly in the DevOps space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing tailored in-house tools using various technologies to provide effective operational support for IT Operations teams.
  • Utilizing automation and orchestration platforms to streamline manual processes and reduce operational toil.
  • Creating advanced dashboards using a variety of telemetry data and dashboarding technologies such as Grafana, Splunk, and New Relic.
  • Maintaining and managing existing monitoring and analytics toolsets.
  • Providing mentorship to colleagues in the adoption of new technologies or practices.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes and methodologies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across platform teams to identify requirements and develop solutions to address challenges and advance projects.
  • Working alongside IT Operations to provide and support critical tools that enhance business value.
