About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Football Coach to join our team at Liverpool Football Club as a Foundation Phase Age Group Casual Coach. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and developing young players within the group to achieve their full potential in a safe, secure, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver coaching sessions, following a training program that aligns with the club's youth development strategy.
  • Provide input to the development and ongoing improvement/adaptation of the coaching curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of young players.
  • Coach in a way that encourages players to ask questions, seek feedback, and take ownership of their learning process.
  • Ensure players are engaged and motivated, with a clear understanding of the purpose and 'why' behind training sessions.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities to volunteer coaches, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Input into selection decisions, including attending trials and participating in post-trial selection discussions.
  • Work across age groups, holding responsibility for one age group and collaborating with others as needed.
  • Set development targets with individual players, creating a plan to work towards their goals.
  • Provide regular feedback to players and parents/carers, using technology where appropriate to enhance communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate player development, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support their growth.
  • Liaise with coaches, medics, and performance staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to player development and injury prevention/treatment/rehabilitation.
  • Ensure all games and festivals are well-managed, with a clear development philosophy communicated to players and parents/carers.
  • Be available to offer advice, guidance, and support to players on football and personal matters, promoting their overall wellbeing.
  • Ensure player behavior reflects the club's values and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Safeguarding Manager to prioritize the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young athletes, preferably in a football environment.
  • Understanding of modern young players' physical and psychological development, including up-to-date knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience in roles that have brought an understanding of how children learn and develop, such as teaching.
  • Commitment to working evenings, weekends, and public holidays, with a willingness to adapt to changing demands.
  • Interest in and genuine care for player needs, providing personalized support and communication.
  • Innovative and open-minded, willing to try new approaches to develop and engage players.

Essential Qualifications

  • FA Level 2/UEFA C or above coaching qualification.
  • FA DBS.
  • FA Safeguarding Children.
  • FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid.
