Martin Waste Ltd effectively oversees a broad spectrum of waste and recyclable materials throughout the UK.
We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Contract Supervisor to enhance our current Management team.
Reporting directly to the Contract Manager, the Contract Supervisor will oversee operations within the designated region, ensuring that the performance of specified Household Waste Recycling Centres and Transfer Stations meets all contractual obligations. This role requires close collaboration with operational personnel and support departments to maintain operational efficiencies and proactively monitor facilities for compliance with safety and operational protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven history of managing site operations, preferably within the waste management sector, and hold a Certificate of Technical Competency. Strong teamwork, effective communication skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to systems and processes are essential. Tailored training and development opportunities will be provided to support the successful applicant's growth.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure adherence to safe working practices and Health and Safety regulations, monitoring operations for compliance with company and legal standards.
- Supervise and uphold contractual commitments, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Assist in the operational management of a diverse team, including both direct and subcontracted staff.
- Meet performance targets set by the line manager and report progress through management information reports and in-person updates.
- Inspect and assess operational facilities to ensure compliance with required standards of efficiency.
- Uphold company policies and procedures, ensuring data quality and compliance with audit requirements.
- Implement and monitor operational plans to ensure Household Waste Recycling Centres and Transfer Stations meet established standards.
- Collaborate with operational staff to enhance service quality and improvements across the area, ensuring alignment with management system requirements.
- Occasionally represent the company at internal and external meetings, acting in the absence of the Contract Manager.
- Notify the Contracts Manager of any issues that fall below required standards.
- Work collaboratively as part of the Management team, embodying the company's values and standards.
- Contribute to the achievement of company objectives and personal targets.
- Support continuous improvement in customer satisfaction and site recycling rates by actively guiding and coaching site staff.
- Foster effective working relationships with your line manager, colleagues, subcontractors, and site users.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines.
- Deliver Toolbox Talks and update necessary documentation for the Household Waste Recycling Centres and Transfer Stations.
- Assess and update training requirements across the contract, revising the training matrix as needed.
- Manage annual leave across the Household Waste Recycling Centres, keeping the Contracts Manager informed.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills required:
- Experience in a similar supervisory capacity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Willingness to travel extensively between sites as required.
- Experience operating heavy machinery is preferred, though on-the-job training will be provided for necessary cover.
- A degree or equivalent qualification is desirable but not mandatory if relevant skills can be demonstrated.
- Certificate of Technical Competency in Hazardous Waste transfer.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, passion, and a desire for personal development.
- Positive attitude and a proactive approach.
- Ability to engage with all levels of management professionally, utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills to manage personal workload effectively.
Essential requirements:
- A valid UK Driving Licence is essential.
Please note: This role may require weekend shifts, out-of-hours coverage, and extensive travel within the operational area.
