Job Title: Contract Supervisor - Cheshire

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Supervisor to join our team at HW Martin Holdings in Cheshire. As a Contract Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the performance of designated Household Waste Recycling Centres and Transfer Stations, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and operational efficiencies are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safe working practices and Health and Safety legislation are adhered to.
  • Adhere to and supervise contractual commitments, including KPIs.
  • Assist in the operational management of a diverse team of direct and sub-contracted staff.
  • Achieve performance targets as agreed with the line manager and report progress through management information reports and in person on a timely basis.
  • Inspect and monitor operational facilities for compliance to required standards of operational efficiency.
  • Comply with policies and procedures, ensuring data quality and compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Implement and monitor agreed operational plans to ensure HWRCs and Transfer Stations are meeting the required standards.
  • Assist in the delivery of quality and service improvements across the area, working with operational staff to ensure all aspects of service provision are in line with management system requirements.
  • On occasion, you will be required to deputise for the Contract Manager and represent the company at internal and external meetings as required.
  • Bring to the attention of the Contracts Manager any matters which are considered to fall below required standards.
  • Work effectively as part of the Management team, representing the values and standards of the Company.
  • Develop and progress to achieve Company objectives and individual targets.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction and site recycling rates, with an emphasis on actively guiding and coaching site staff to strive for performance and service improvements.
  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with your line manager, colleagues, sub-contractors, and site users.
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks and update documents as required for the HWRCs and Transfer Stations.
  • Develop and review the training requirements across the Contract, update the training matrix when appropriate.
  • Manage annual leave across the HWRCs, update the Contracts Manager accordingly.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar supervisory role.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility for extensive travel as required between sites.
  • Experience driving heavy plant is preferred, but on-the-job training can be provided to enable ad hoc cover when required.
  • A degree or equivalent is desirable but not essential, where related skills can be demonstrated.
  • Certificate of Technical Competency for HWRCs or Transfer Stations is preferred, but on-the-job training can be given to the right candidate with supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally, with good attention to detail and to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Portrays enthusiasm, passion, and ambition to learn and develop.
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • The ability to liaise with all levels of management on a professional level, using good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational skills to be responsible for managing own workload.
Essential Requirements:
  • A current UK Driving Licence is essential.

Please note: This opportunity involves weekend shifts, out-of-hours coverage, and extensive travel within the vibrant operational area of Cheshire.
