About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Physiologist to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our respiratory physiology department, you will be responsible for performing a range of basic and specialized lung function tests, as well as providing technical support and training to less experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of basic and specialized lung function tests, including spirometry and plethysmography
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, including lung function machines and sleep studies equipment
  • Provide technical support and training to less experienced staff, including students and junior physiologists
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures and protocols for respiratory physiology testing
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients undergoing respiratory physiology testing
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
  • Registration with the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a respiratory physiology department, including performing lung function tests and providing technical support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and shifts
