We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our team to maintain and further enhance our safety culture and keep our facilities in top condition.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, such as COSHH, RIDDOR, DSEAR and PUWER.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate health and safety records, including risk assessments, audits, accident reports, and employee training logs.
- Risk Assessments and Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Insurance Requirements: Effectively liaise with insurers to seek requirements, understand coverage and exclusions, and report incidents.
- Training and Education: Organize safety training, inductions, and ongoing education for employees, including specific instruction on equipment use, fire safety, health and safety compliance, and emergency procedures.
- Emergency Planning: Create and maintain emergency response plans, and lead evacuation drills.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation, and implementing preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with department managers, including operations, production, and quality control, to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to health and safety systems and processes, ensuring that the company is proactive in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Facilities Management: Regular checks of essential systems such as fire, HVAC, security systems, and lighting.
- Identification and Remedy of Potential or New Issues: Regular or emergency maintenance or upgrades.
- Liaising with Contractors: Organize contractor visits and ensure contractor compliance and performance.
- Facilities Hygiene and Cleanliness: Manage facilities hygiene and cleanliness.
- Essential: NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Proven Experience: Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Excellent Communication: Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Experience in Accident Investigation: Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
