Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Moderna Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Clinical Flow Cytometry group at Moderna. As a key member of our team, you will serve as a technical expert in generating high-parameter flow cytometry data under Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) guidelines to support clinical programs across multiple therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Execute Clinical Sample Testing: Conduct high-parameter immunophenotyping on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and whole blood samples, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  2. Quality Control and Assurance: Identify and resolve quality issues, escalating as necessary to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.
  3. Develop and Validate Assays: Participate in the development and validation of high-parameter spectral flow cytometry assays, applying them to clinical trial samples to generate key data.
  4. Sample Preparation and Analysis: Process PBMCs, qualify cryopreserved PBMCs from clinical and vendor sites, and run experiments independently from sample preparation to acquisition, accurately analyzing flow cytometric data using FCSExpress and presenting results.
  5. Emerging Techniques and Lab Operations: Collaborate with the team to identify, feasibility test, and implement emerging laboratory techniques, assist in general lab housekeeping, and maintain a safe laboratory environment.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Immunology, Life Sciences, Biology, or a related field, with 3+ years of laboratory experience.
  2. Flow Cytometry Expertise: Knowledge of best practices in the use of flow cytometry to generate high-quality data, with experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, GraphPad Prism, and FCSExpress, with good computational skills and experience working independently on laboratory procedures and processes.
  4. Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with project teams, present results, and adapt to changing priorities and urgent project requests.
