Practice Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Nurse to join our team at Wateringbury Surgery. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients, working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and in collaboration with our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide assessment, treatment, screening, and health education services to patients
- Work with reference to practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners
- Have the required level of training and competence and work within patient group directions where these are available
- Registered Nurse - Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Polite and confident

- Experience of managing elderly and housebound patients
- Experience of quality initiatives, benchmarking
- Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice
- Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
- Chaperone procedure
- Womens health - cervical cytology, contraception, etc.
- Immunisations - routine, childhood and travel
- Chronic disease management
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Effective time management (planning and organising)
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Good interpersonal skills
