Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Nurse to join our team at Wateringbury Surgery. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients, working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and in collaboration with our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, treatment, screening, and health education services to patients
  • Work with reference to practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners
  • Have the required level of training and competence and work within patient group directions where these are available

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment

  • Experience of managing elderly and housebound patients
  • Experience of quality initiatives, benchmarking
Knowledge and Skills
  • Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
  • ECGs
  • Venepuncture
  • Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
  • Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice
  • Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes
  • Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
  • Chaperone procedure
  • Womens health - cervical cytology, contraception, etc.
  • Immunisations - routine, childhood and travel
  • Chronic disease management
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Effective time management (planning and organising)
