Role Overview: The Conflict Resolution Specialist position within HMRC is a pivotal role focused on delivering technical support and managing projects across a diverse range of IT systems.
Reporting Structure: The successful candidate will report to the Infrastructure Manager and collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive support across various levels, including first, second, and limited third line assistance for desktops, servers, and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement changes in accordance with established approval processes.
- Oversee the provision and ongoing maintenance of desktop systems.
- Assist in the design and development of new infrastructure services.
- Work closely with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Project Involvement: Engage in and support the execution of IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
Application Support: Facilitate the deployment, patching, and configuration of applications.
Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain IT hardware and server room infrastructure, including cabling and power management.
Equipment Setup: Configure and maintain computer equipment, telecommunication devices, printers, and peripherals, providing ongoing support for business systems, network connectivity, and audio/visual equipment.
Travel Requirements: Regular travel within the UK for meetings and infrastructure tasks will be necessary, with occasional overnight stays. Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance.
Flexibility Payment: This position includes a Level 1a Flexibility Payment combined with a bespoke package of additional hours, compensated monthly with salary.
Additional Work Hours: Candidates may be required to work extra hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Security Clearance: Following a successful security clearance application and probation period, candidates may need to undergo further vetting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in managing Windows desktops and servers.
- Understanding of IP address-related network services such as DHCP and DNS.
- Experience with network equipment, including routers and switches.
- Familiarity with managing Windows domains via Active Directory.
- Knowledge of additional network services such as NTP, SMTP, and SNMP.
- Awareness of network security techniques, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
Qualifications:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- ITIL 3 or V4 Foundation Certification.
