Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consultant

General Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid medical qualification (e.g., MBBS or equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
- MRCPsych or an equivalent recognized qualification, such as membership in a psychiatry college from another country.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Higher degree or qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Additional clinical qualifications.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must possess or be within six months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
- Registered as a specialist in the field of Psychiatry.
- Possession of Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status or the ability to obtain such approval prior to commencing the role.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of the specialty.
- Demonstrated effective participation in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong clinical skills utilizing a bio-psycho-social approach and comprehensive medical knowledge.
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
- Decision-making capabilities grounded in evidence and experience, including contributions from others.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in teaching.
- A broad range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the position within the NHS or a comparable service.

- Acknowledgment of the stresses associated with the role of a consultant psychiatrist and strategies for effective management.
Supervision of Junior Medical Staff:
- Knowledge of the requirements for supervising and appraising junior medical staff.
- Completion of approved educational supervisor training.
Research and Audit:
- Experience in conducting audit projects.
- Involvement in research projects and publications.
- Ability to supervise junior medical staff engaged in research initiatives.
Desirable Research Contributions:
- Published audit projects.
- Ability to critically evaluate published research.
