We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Conference & F&B Support Steward to join our team at Sodexo in Woodbank Hotel, Aberdeen. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of conferences and events, while also providing exceptional support to our F&B team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the meeting and conference department, providing support to the F&B team as needed.
- Carry out duty management shifts, adhering to hotel operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate data and provide timely reports to relevant departments.
- Liaise with clients and customers, handling meeting queries professionally and efficiently.
- Accurately and timely bill clients and customers.
- Set up and maintain meeting areas, IT equipment, audio visual equipment, and other required equipment.
- Ensure all conference kit has current PAT test stickers.
- Liaise with the kitchen and food and beverage team to report catering figures daily.
- Perform general housekeeping of all conference areas, including recycling activities.
- Order and replenish vending supplies, IT supplies, and stationery.
- Photocopy and print supplies liaison.
- Submit reports as required.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement or development within the conference environment.
- Ensure compliance with Sodexo and Shell's legal regulations on health and safety, food safety, hygiene, and the environment.
- Embody a 'zero harm mindset,' reporting near misses and accidents accurately, and equipment defects to your line manager.
- Complete company documents with integrity, practicing due diligence at all times.
- Develop your skills and knowledge within the position.
- Attend weekly team meetings to maintain communication across the team.
- Work independently within a team environment.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with clients.
- Ensure quality, cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards meet company SEMS, Safeguard, and local authority regulations.
- Assist the food and beverage department as needed.
- Computer literacy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience working with previous customers or clients.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple workloads.
- Ability to achieve and set standards, operating to performance criteria, particularly in hotel operations.
- Knowledge of health and safety and food safety.
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.
- Positive approach to learning in role, identifying own training needs as appropriate.
