Head of Sustainability

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to join our team as Head of Sustainability. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our sustainability strategy, driving Net Zero operations, and promoting sustainable products and social value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Land Sustainability strategy, including the roadmap to achievement across Net Zero operations, sustainable products, and social value.
- Monitor and drive processes and outputs in the business, ensuring we meet and exceed sustainability goals.
- Assume the role of chair, creating a Land Sustainability Working Group, complete with terms of reference, to monitor and drive the strategy.
- Liaise and coordinate with wider M&L Sector and Group Sustainability & Social Value initiatives, ensuring Lands' plans and activities align with Group objectives/plans.
- Be the Land subject matter expert on Sustainability, providing thought leadership, advice, and recommendations to inform business strategy and decision-making.
- Maintain a clear understanding of all relevant current and upcoming legislation and regulation.
- Support the development of Sustainability and Social Value material and deliverables in support of UK bids and campaigns, working with industrial partners and suppliers as necessary.
- Develop and maintain Sustainability and Social Value metrics and reporting for Land and Group/Sector ESG reporting requirements.
- Drive engagement, understanding, and support for the Land Sustainability agenda.
Requirements:
- Previous responsibility for Sustainability/ESG strategy and its execution.
- Genuine passion for environmental and sustainability matters, with a strong desire to improve economic and social wellbeing in the communities we work in, and to maximize the company's Social Value impact.
- Understands current and future issues, how they affect business, and how to prepare the business for them.
- Strong experience in managing and working with partners to build trusted external relationships and to establish and grow value and gravitas with internal colleagues.
- Able to challenge internal stakeholders in a compelling way and work effectively, leading, influencing, and driving delivery across dispersed, multi-functional teams in a politically complex environment.
- Track record of delivery and PM discipline.
- Customer-focused, with the ability to develop strong, trusted relationships, understand perspectives, invite feedback, and look for win-win solutions.
