Position Overview

We are seeking a Housing Support Specialist to become a vital member of our Housing Services team.

Role Responsibilities

The selected candidate will collaborate with the Council's homelessness unit to evaluate housing requirements for individuals who are currently experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. This will be done on a case-by-case basis to facilitate their transition towards independent living.

Collaboration and Networking

This role presents an excellent opportunity to engage closely with individuals and various organizations that offer housing and support services, including local charities, health and social care providers, and the criminal justice system.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess experience in working with vulnerable populations, as well as familiarity with other organizations. A solid understanding of housing policies, particularly the legislation and statutory responsibilities of local housing authorities in relation to homelessness, is essential.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will primarily be stationed at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford, working a total of 37 hours per week. However, the role will require some off-site work, including regular interactions with clients in the community.

This position offers a chance to enhance existing knowledge and skills while gaining insights into both operational and strategic housing challenges within the mid Essex region.
