Position Overview
As a Commodities Quantitative Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to strengthen our capabilities in portfolio valuation, risk assessment, and trade lifecycle management within the global commodities markets. You will specifically focus on over-the-counter (OTC) and exchange-traded energy products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain analytical tools across various asset classes, with a strong emphasis on commodities, including valuation methodologies, trade management, and risk analysis (e.g., Greeks, VAR, XVA).
- Propose and implement new models and design patterns to improve our evolving infrastructure.
- Write and maintain high-quality code that meets both business and quantitative requirements.
- Create comprehensive documentation to support engineering solutions, catering to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Although primarily a non-client-facing role, you will occasionally support client engagements, collaborating with client-facing engineers and technical account managers.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, particularly with Python.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with commodities and energy markets, including knowledge of renewable power products and analytical techniques.
- Understanding of market conventions, deal structures, and derivatives pricing/risk management.
- Experience in a front office development role, ideally within a trading environment.
- Proficiency in developing production-level code, particularly in enterprise risk systems.
- A solid foundation in software engineering principles across the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to navigate and debug unfamiliar codebases effectively.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Quantitative Developer or Analyst in the Commodities or Energy sectors.
- Knowledge of renewable power products, especially Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Experience in building and maintaining real-time quoting and risk management systems.
- Familiarity with strongly-typed programming languages.
