Job Description

As a Scent Design Manager at International Flavors & Fragrances, you will be responsible for driving the development and execution of fragrance strategies that meet consumer needs and drive business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to establish fragrance strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Lead the development of olfactive direction and drive the overall success of fragrance projects.
  • Manage the creative process, ensuring effective execution and timely delivery of fragrance solutions.
  • Monitor results and adjust project plans as needed to ensure success.
Creative Excellence
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish creative strategies that drive business success.
  • Share market product knowledge and brand portfolio expertise to inform the creative process.
  • Provide creative direction and olfactive guidance to perfumers to stimulate innovation.
  • Identify potential fragrances based on brand fit and market relevance.
Knowledge Management
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the scent portfolio management process.
  • Support the principles of the learning organization, generating insights and knowledge sharing.
Customer Focus and Teamwork
  • Drive the creative process by building strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Present market trends, fragrance trends, and consumer insights to inform business decisions.
  • Communicate effectively about fragrances, including olfactive rationale and market analysis.
Olfactive Skills
  • Demonstrate good olfactory skills and develop a deep understanding of fragrance themes.
  • Identify potential fragrances based on brand fit and market relevance.
Business Acumen
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the relationship between creative process, cost, and product performance.
  • Understand the economics of raw materials and their impact on cost guidelines and price sensitivity.
  • Articulate creative decisions on projects, balancing creativity and cost to serve.
Requirements
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Fragrance, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of fragrance industry experience, with a strong track record of evaluation and innovation.
  • Excellent olfactive expertise, with the ability to identify potential fragrances based on market relevance.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive execution and deliver results.
  • Excellent influencing skills, good business acumen, and customer relationship management skills.
