Role Overview:
The Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer will serve as the design authority overseeing all electronic, software, and mechanical design initiatives within the organization. Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing leadership and direction for the Mechanical Design team, ensuring project objectives are met while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Engineering to manage design and development projects effectively.
  • Mentoring team members and fostering their professional growth.
  • Engaging in scientific instrumentation design from initial concept through to final product delivery.
  • Evaluating and recommending advanced design and manufacturing methodologies for potential adoption.
  • Conducting specific product design tasks within various projects.

  • Conducting product testing and on-site commissioning.
  • Maintaining effective communication with clients.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in engineering, specifically as a Design Engineer. Required qualifications and experience include:
  • A deep understanding of engineering principles coupled with a high level of design capability.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in leading and nurturing a design team within a high-tech engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with components, suppliers, and relevant processes.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks.
  • Eligibility for security clearance; UK passport holders (no dual nationals) only, with proof of residency in the UK for the past five years.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should have a comprehensive grasp of fundamental engineering principles. The interview process will delve into the depth of your knowledge. Applicants should hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering (2.1 or higher) from a recognized institution and possess several years of experience as a design engineer in a high-tech engineering setting.
