Job Opportunity - Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

ACS Performance is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative and technologically complex instruments and systems for challenging applications.

  • **Design Authority**: You will be responsible for leading all electronics, software, and mechanical design activities within the company, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • **Project Management**: You will support the Director of Engineering in managing design and development projects, assigning tasks to the Mechanical Design team, and ensuring projects stay within time and budgetary restraints.
  • **Team Leadership**: You will mentor and develop the Mechanical Design team, providing guidance and support to help them grow and succeed in their roles.
  • **Scientific Instrumentation Design**: You will design scientific instruments from concept to final product, ensuring that they meet the needs of our customers and exceed their expectations.
  • **Design and Manufacturing**: You will stay up-to-date with the latest design and manufacturing tools and techniques, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance our products and processes.
  • **Product Design**: You will be responsible for specific product design activities within projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the needs of our customers.
  • **Business Development**: You will contribute to business development activities, including bidding, business promotion, and development, helping to identify new opportunities and grow our business.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • **Strong Engineering Skills**: A sound understanding of engineering disciplines and a high level of design ability and engineering knowledge is required.
  • **Project Management Skills**: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan budgets and resources necessary for successful project completion.
  • **Leadership Skills**: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate goals to the team and lead by example.
  • **Technical Knowledge**: A comprehensive knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world problems.
  • **Education and Experience**: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (2.1 or higher) from a recognized university, with a number of years' experience working as a design engineer in a high technology engineering environment.
