Senior Site Reliability Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to become a vital part of our Lightspeed team. Lightspeed develops innovative software solutions that empower merchants to enhance their business growth and profitability. In this role, you will collaborate with a team dedicated to addressing essential areas such as cloud infrastructure, reliability, incident management, data analytics, cost transparency, and operational efficiency. Additionally, you will assist our expanding development teams by providing the necessary infrastructure and tools to support their scaling efforts. Your responsibilities will include constructing and maintaining multi-region infrastructures and networks, ensuring our products operate reliably, efficiently, and securely by implementing established DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect, develop, and sustain resilient infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing cloud-native technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud SQL, and BigQuery. Create and oversee CI/CD pipelines to facilitate smooth deployment and release processes using various tools (GitLab, GitHub, Helm, Terraform, etc.). Collaborate closely with development teams to establish tools and methodologies for monitoring software performance in production, defining and assessing reliability metrics (SLI, SLO), and managing error budgets. Develop platform solutions and apply software engineering principles to enhance software reliability and expedite delivery. Assist in the incident management process and perform post-incident analyses to mitigate future disruptions. Guide junior SREs and developers, providing mentorship on best practices in cloud architecture, data management, and software development. Manage infrastructure modifications through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform. Participate in the on-call rotation. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, promoting the adoption of new tools and practices to enhance product quality and team efficiency.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 6+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, systems administration, or software engineering. Proficiency in container orchestration platforms, particularly Kubernetes. Strong knowledge of both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis). Familiarity with network protocols and IP networking, along with experience in network troubleshooting. Competence in at least one programming language such as Bash, Python, or Go. Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure in cloud environments like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure. Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and logging solutions (e.g., ELK stack). Strong understanding of security best practices. Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. A genuine eagerness to learn and tackle challenges.Benefits:
